About the artist

Fruzsina Kolmont is a mixed media artist who specialises in creating intricate portraits of trees, showcasing their unique textures and etheral foliage. Working from her home studio in Szeged, Hungary she strives to balance life between a creative business and being a busy mother of three.
Art has always been a part of Fruzsina’s life. From early childhood she excelled at different art competitions, enjoyed art camps and developed her skills by trying a number of mediums and techniques. She is mainly self-taught and believes that art – as most things in life – requires many challenges, discoveries and a never ending learning to achieve continuous growth.
Fruzsina’s aim is to create honest and captivating portraits of these inspirational plants thus bringing them to life on canvas. As much as she loves painting the greenery and foliage of the trees of parks, forests, countryside and the city she also makes people perceive the beauty of the trees’ trunks that always enchant her with their many textures of bumps, cracks, wrinkles and moss. Each tree’s body is uniquely abstract made up by regular and irregular patterns and a variation of earth based colours. In most cases the background is blurry with a bokeh effect thus allowing the viewer a closer focus on the trunk. The trunk that makes one wonder about the story of that particular tree and the history it may have witnessed during its life.
Fruzsina’s hope is to awaken people to the beauty of regular trees and plants that are all part of our lives and the importance to preserve nature’s miracles.
